Nienhiser Sweeps Weekend with MOWA and Sprint Invaders

Paul Nienhiser has made a habit of visiting Victory Lane in both 410 and 360 Sprint Car competition in 2023, and that trend continued this past weekend for the Chapin, IL native.

On Friday night, Nienhiser piloted his own #9X car to a dominant victory with the Midwest Open Wheel Association at the Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, IL.

“We had a good baseline going into the night after winning there earlier this year.” Nienhiser said. “We were fast out of the gate and won our Heat race by a good distance but blew a rear end coming to the line. The guys worked feverishly to change it and we barely made it out for the feature. We lined up 5th in the A Main and hammered the top for the early laps but made the bottom work late and held off Will [Armitage] late to win it.”

The victory was Nienhiser’s 4th 410 triumph of 2023 and his second MOWA Sprints victory of the season.

Saturday saw Nienhiser switch gears to the Sprint Invaders 360 sprint car series and head to the Peoria Speedway in the Midland Performance #50 machine.

“It was great to get back in the #50 car with so much momentum there too.” Nienhiser said of the switch. “We ran 4th to 2nd in the heat race and knew we were fast once again. Ended up winning the dash from 2nd and started 2nd in the Feature. I started running the top in the feature while the track got really slick and technical. By the end the bottom came in and I moved down there and just kind of settled in until the checkered.”

After yet another win, Nienhiser and the #50 team traveled to the Adams County Raceway in Quincy, IL with the Sprint Invaders once again.

“Started further back in the heat race at Quincy and ran 4th from 7th.” Nienhiser said of Sunday’s outing. “We realized we made a bad choice with gears and switched that for the dash and the car was lights out from there. Ran 6th to 2nd in the dash and started 6th in the feature. Somehow the bottom lane opened up in turns 1 and 2 on lap 1 and we went 6th to 1st on the first lap. The car was on absolute rails the whole race and we managed to lap up to 5th. It was an amazing night all around. The team made some great calls, and the car was perfect. Really excited to get back in the 410 car with a lot of momentum.”

The three wins this past weekend brings Nienhiser’s win total to 8 in 2023 across 360 and 410 sprint car competition and has the team riding on a hot streak heading into a massive weekend with the Bumper to Bumper IRA Sprints.

Looking ahead, Nienhiser will head to 34 Raceway in West Burlington, IA this Friday to pilot the Midland Performance Inc. #50 car with the IRA Sprints, and then climb back into his own CAM2 Racing #9X on Saturday again with the IRA at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, MO for the “St. Louis Super Slam” in conjunction with the IndyCar race at World Wide Technology Raceway. Both events will have tickets available at the track while also being available on the My Race Pass app. Both nights will be broadcast live on FloRacing.
