Paul Nienhiser Wins First 410 c.i. Start in Midland Performance 50

PETERSEN MEDIA: Friday night at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, IL, Paul Nienhiser made his first 410ci start with Scott Bonar and the Midland Performance No. 50 machine memorable as he picked up the MOWA win during Gold Crown weekend.

“Scott Bonar and I have competed together in a ton of 360ci events over the last few years, and Saturday night we were finally able to team up for a 410ci event,” Nienhiser said. “We have been fast together all year long, and that translated over to Friday night and we picked up a win.”

After a strong hot lap session where everything felt good to the Chapin, IL driver, Nienhiser would advance from third to first in his heat race which earned him a spot in the nightly redraw.

Pulling the four pill, Nienhiser would grid the field from the outside of the second row for the feature event. With a razor thin cushion build up around the speedway, Nienhiser would get up to it and build his momentum as he quickly worked his way into second, chasing after Thomas Meseraul.

Getting to ‘TMez’ in traffic, Nienhiser would nail the bottom on one lap as he got by a lapped car as well as Meseraul to take over the race lead.

Out in front, Nienhiser would quickly begin to pull away from the field as he built up a sizeable lead until a red flag flew on with just five laps to go. Ironically, the red was needed for Cannon McIntosh who was aboard Nienhiser’s entry for the weekend. He was okay.

Back underway, Nienhiser would nail the final five laps as he went on to pick up what was his 20th career MOWA win, putting him just two wins behind Jarrod Hull on the series’ all time wins list.

“Chasing after Jarred Hull on the wins list has been fun,” Nienhiser said. “To get our 20th with Scott Bonar on the wrenches is actually pretty cool, because he was with Hull for a lot of those wins, so hopefully we can pick up a couple more together and get up top ourselves.”

Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Littleton Storm & Timber, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium Products, Vortex Wings, Signature Signs and Design, and Team Simpson for their continued support.

2020 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-32, Wins-5, Top 5’s-12, Top 10’s-18

ON TAP: Nienhiser and Scott Bonar are set to return to MOWA action together on Friday night at Jacksonville Speedway, and then on Saturday night in Farmington, MO for the Queen’s Royal.
