PETERSEN MEDIA: Though he didn’t have the weekend he hoped for on his home track, Paul Nienhiser was still able to celebrate as he was officially crowned the 2019 MOWA Champion over the weekend at Jacksonville Speedway.

“We were just a little off,” Paul Nienhiser said. “We clinched the title just by drawing a pill on Friday so I didn’t have to race cautious or force any issues that I didn’t need to.”

Friday night a total of 38 cars checked into the pit area and the Chapin, IL driver would draw the front row of a very stacked heat race. After getting into the lead, Nienhiser would encounter traffic in the closing laps which would equate to a near miss that saw him drop two positions and finish third.

Giving up valuable points, Nienhiser will was able to make the feature where he took the green flag from the 15th starting position. On a track that was pretty dominant around the top, Nienhiser would pick up what he could as he made a point not to get overly aggressive while running mid pack.

Able to gain a few spots, Nienhiser capped the night with a 10th place finish aboard the CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil/Mason Sound/Innovative Design backed entry.

Following Saturday afternoon showers, 32 cars would show up for the MOWA finale, and Nienhiser would draw the second row for his heat race. With those previously mentioned showers, the track crews did a great job of getting the track ready but it was still a hammer down surface, that didn’t see much passing early as Nienhiser finished fourth in his heat.

For the second consecutive night, he would again just sneak into the feature event as he would be 15th in points after heats and roll off the starting grid from the inside of the eighth row.

With the track still fast in the feature, Nienhiser would actually avoid some chaos and again sneak his way up to 10th when the madness drew to a close.

“It was definitely really cool to win my first championship at my home track in front of so many friends, fans, and partners who help us out so much,” Nienhiser said. “It was a great MOWA season for us, with the exception of these last two shows, I really feel like we were in contention to win every night, and that is a testament to this team we have put together.”

Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Littleton Storm & Timber, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium Products, Vortex Wings, Signature Signs and Design, and Team Simpson for their continued support.
