Nienhiser 3rd at Hockett/McMillin Opener Before Finishing 7th in Finale

PETERSEN MEDIA: Spending the weekend in Wheatland, MO for the Hockett/McMillin Memorial at Lucas Oil Speedway, Paul Nienhiser would pick up a third place finish on Thursday night before finishing seventh in Saturday night’s finale.

“We actually tried to run the non wing car too, but having issues on Thursday night, we parked it and focused in the winged car with the ASCS National Tour,” Nienhiser said. “I was really pleased with our run, and locking into Saturday’s show based on points against a ton of cars. I would have liked to have finish a little better on Saturday, but we missed the set up a little.”

Timing in with the POWRi WAR Non Wing Sprint Cars, Nienhiser would time in fourth fastest in his qualifying group which put him on the pole of his heat race. Having an issue at the start of the heat, Nienhiser would come to a stop and head back to his pit area.

Unable to make changes and repairs prior to the qualifier, Nienhiser and crew opted to park the non-wing car for the weekend and turn their sole attention to the winged car.

Lining up 8th with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour, the Chapin, IL driver put together a great heat and gained very valuable points as he rocketed his way up to finish fourth. Making some adjustments prior to his qualifier, Nienhiser would grid the field from the fourth position and make the top work as he powered to the lead and picked up the win.

When points were tabulated from heats and qualifiers, Nienhiser was second overall and on the front row of the feature event aboard the CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil/Mason Sound/Innovative Design entry.

In a race that saw action all over, Nienhiser noted that his motor didn’t feel 100% all night and actually dipped as low as sixth at one point. Able to make some headway, Nienhiser worked his way back up to third and nearly had second at the finish line.

Friday night, Nienhiser would look to add to his Thursday points total to lock directly into the Saturday night feature event. Running second in his heat race after starting on the pole, Nienhiser would move into a qualifier where a restart would be costly as he lost a couple of spots and finished fifth which put him in the ‘B’.

Finishing fifth in the “B”, Nienhiser’s night would be over. While bummed about his night, Nienhiser’s Thursday performance prove vital as his combined point total was good enough to put him 6thoverall in points and locked into Saturday’s ‘A’ Main.

Adjusting some fuel settings, Nienhiser would lay down some great laps in warm ups as he was second fastest amongst the lock in cars, and looking to get a feel for his car for the 40-lap feature event.

Lining up sixth in the feature, Nienhiser just couldn’t seem to get going how he had hoped. Though he was able to work his way up to third at one point, he would slip back and finish 7thwhen the weekend came to an end.

“Locking in, and starting up front I was hoping we could cash in with some good money on the line,’ Nienhiser added. “Still, was happy to lock in and land on the podium on Thursday night. Thanks to everyone for all of their hard work.”

Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros.
