Nienhiser Garners 11th Place Finish at Knoxville Raceway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Making his first trip to Knoxville Raceway since the 2015 season, Paul Nienhiser was in action on Saturday night competing in the 360ci division where he would come home with an 11th place finish.

“It was an up and down night at Knoxville on Saturday but some good came from it,” Nienhiser said. “We were off on our fueling for time trials, and got that fixed and ran a good heat race. I have never had a good balance at Knoxville so to have speed in our heat and the feature was really good.”

Timing the CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil/Mason Sound/Innovative Design backed No.9x entry in 17th quickest in qualifying time trials, Nienhiser and crew went to work on their car with the Chapin, IL driver slated to line up on the front row of his heat race.

Making the right adjustments, Nienhiser would be shot out of a cannon when the green lights flashed in heat race action. Jumping on the hammer, Nienhiser would leave the field behind as he went on to pick up the win by over 2 seconds.

Sitting 11th in points after Time Trials and his Heat race, Nienhiser would find himself in the sixth row for the feature event. Continuing to have the same speed in the feature that he did in his heat race, Nienhiser would lay down some great laps on the famed ½ mile speed plant as he worked his way up to seventh.

Closing in on the fifth and sixth place cars during a green flag run, a caution would slow his pace and re rack the field. Under the caution Nienhiser’s bleeder would stick and he would lose substantial air pressure in his right rear tire.

Hanging on for dear life and battling an extremely tight race car with the soft right rear, Nienhiser would do a great job of hanging on as he would only lose a couple of positions as he took the checkered flag in 11th.

“It was a disappointing end to our night because I thought we had a shot at a Top-Five,” Nienhiser added. “I am really excited to get back to Knoxville though because I feel like we are on to something. We are hoping we can get back soon and run both the 360ci and 410ci programs.”

Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Littleton Storm & Timer, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Took, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, and Steve Thomas Racing for their continued support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-10, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-2

ON TAP: Nienhiser has a busy weekend ahead as he will be in action at Lake Ozark Speedway on Friday night with the ASCS Warrior Region for the first night of the 360 Sprint Nationals. Saturday Nienhiser will decided between another night at Lake Ozark or a trip to Pevely, MO to race with MOWA before he closes his weekend out on Sunday at Jacksonville Speedway with MOWA.
