Paul Nienhiser Wins at Tri-City!

Paul Nienhiser visited victory lane for the third time this season last weekend! The victory came at the 3/8 mile oval at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL.

Paul showed good speed in hotlaps, having the third fastest time despite a flat left rear tire. He would follow that up with the fifth quickest lap in qualifying. "I was hoping to be a little better than we were early in the night, but we kept working on the car all night and continued to gain speed," said Nienhiser.

Lining up outside row two in his heat race, Paul settled into the third spot on the opening lap where he would ultimately finish. That was enough to lock him into the top six redraw. The redraw worked in his favor, and Paul was set to take the green flag from the pole. "I was relieved to see the redraw went our way. We've had several races this year where we would get stuck in the back and there's only so much you can do from there," said Paul.

Taking the green flag, Paul would open up a sizable advantage in the early stages. Having nearly a half-lap lead on the field, the caution flag would fly on lap 14. "I felt like the car was phenomenal in the feature. We were getting through lapped traffic almost effortlessly, and under the caution I could see my guys telling me we had a big lead. I just did my best to make no mistakes after that." The final 11 laps went without any stoppages, and Paul would cross the finish line with a comfortable lead.

"It felt great to get a win at Tri-City. I let one get away in the closing laps a couple of years ago there. It was really special to have everyone on this race team here to be a part of it, I think that's the first time we've all been to victory lane as a group."

Next up for Paul and the 9x team will be Jacksonville Speedway on Sept. 8th and Spoon River Speedway on Sept. 9th.
