String of bad luck to start 2014 for PNR

To say that the start of 2014 has been a rough start would be an understatement. When we left off, Paul and the team were coming off of an impressive 2nd place finish at 34 Raceway.

Since then, there's been little to no bit of luck at all. On the 18th, the team went to Tri-City Speedway for some MOWA action. Paul would run 2nd in his heat race, and started the feature in 8th. On the opening lap of the feature, a bottleneck occurred, causing Paul to get into the car in front of him and cars behind him to pile up as well. Then on his way back through the field, he passed 5 or 6 cars in a few short laps, but spun out just laps later. That would end the night for the 9 car, as MOWA has a 2 spin rule disqualification policy.

The next weekend, PNR would travel to I-55 Raceway in Pevely, MO for some World of Outlaws action. Paul qualified 20th, just a few tenths of a second separating the field. He started his heat race from the 7th position, and the top 6 cars would transfer directly to the main event. Paul made some impressive laps and managed to work his way to 5th, ensuring himself a starting spot in the 40-lap feature. During the course of the feature, Paul found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, getting together with a car flipping in front of him, and tearing up the car a good amount, but was able to keep going. By lap 30, he was up to 8th after starting in 19th. However, ongoing brake problems caused him to fall back to 14th by the time the checkered flag flew.

Another week later the team made the short drive to Lincoln, IL for another MOWA race. On the first lap of the heat race, and second lap of the feature, un avoidable accidents sidelined Paul for the entire evening. Paul wasn't even on the track for 10 laps that night, very unlucky.

Last Saturday night the group traveled to Flora, IL for the second MOWA race in as many nights. Paul dominated his heat race and was unofficially timed at 12.6 seconds around the 3/8 mile oval. With 2 laps remaining in his heat race, and a half of a track lead over the rest of the field, the motor let go and went up into flames, ending yet another night of racing on an unlucky note.

The team hopes to turn the tables with World of Outlaws racing in Jacksonville, IL for the first time EVER this Wednesday, and also World of Outlaws racing in Wilmot, WI and Haubstadt, IN Friday and Saturday, and finally finishing up the weekend on Mother's Day in Danville, IL for another round of MOWA racing!
