Paul Nienhiser Second with Sprint Invaders; Clinches Owners Championship for Scott Bonar

PETERSEN MEDIA: Picking up another second-place finish aboard Scott Bonar’s No. 50 machine during the Fall Haul, Paul Nienhiser did his part in helping Bonar and the Midland Performance team earn the Sprint Invaders Owner Championship.

“I made a couple of mistakes once I got to the lead, and it cost us the win,’ Paul Nienhiser said. “It was still another great run for us, and it is very cool to get Scott and team this Championship.”

Locking into the Dash for Cash as Bonar sat within the Top-8 Owner’s points heading into the final event of the season with the Sprint Invaders, Nienhiser would capitalize on a front row starting position as he raced to the win and got his night off to a very nice start.

Finding himself on the front row of his heat race, Nienhiser would not get the same jump he got in the Dash for Cash, however he had a stout car underneath him and he made the top side work as he sailed to the win and qualified for the regularly scheduled Sprint Invaders Dash.

Running fifth in the Dash, the inversion draw would put the Chapin, IL driver back in the third row for the final Sprint Invaders feature of 2020.

With the top wearing out come feature event time, most of the field worked the low side of the speedway with the exception of Nienhiser. Working the razor thin cushion and gaining momentum, Nienhiser would surge ahead find himself in second.

Surging to the lead at the race’s halfway point, Nienhiser would miss a couple of his marks and slip back into the second spot.

As the race moved along, the track would begin to take rubber in sporadic places. Able to get back into the lead, Nienhiser would miss the rubber and it would see him lose the lead again as he was relegated back to second.

With rubber continuing to go down, Nienhiser would hold on to finish second which was good enough to give the team the Sprint Invaders Owner’s Championship.

“Matt Kinney built a great engine for this car, so to get this title for both Scott and him is really cool,” Nienhiser said. “Now that Sprint Invaders season is over, we are going to drop a 410 engine in his car, and run a few races together to close this season out.”

Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium Products, Vortex Wings, Signature Signs and Design, and Team Simpson for their continued support.

ON TAP: While Cannon McIntosh will pilot the Paul Nienhiser Racing No. 08 this weekend during Gold Crown at Tri-City Speedway, Nienhiser will continue to pilot the Midland Performance No. 50.
